COPPA Compliance & Child Safety
MathMates is designed for children aged 5-11 and complies with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). Parents or legal guardians must provide consent and create accounts on behalf of children under 13, with enhanced protections for children under 7.
- All child accounts must be managed by a parent or guardian
- We collect minimal information necessary for educational purposes

Enhanced Protection for 1st Grade Students
Children in 1st grade (ages 5-6) receive additional safeguards and protections when using MathMates. These enhanced measures ensure the safest possible learning environment for our youngest users.
Additional Requirements for Ages 5-6:
- Enhanced Parental Consent: Additional consent forms and acknowledgments required
- Mandatory Supervision: Parent or guardian presence required during all learning sessions
- Session Time Limits: Automatic 15-minute session limits with mandatory breaks
- Minimal Data Collection: Only essential learning progress data is stored
- No Social Features: No sharing, comparison, or interaction with other users
- Audio-First Design: Content is primarily delivered through audio to support pre-readers
- Enhanced Privacy: Stricter data retention limits and deletion policies

Account Terms
Parent/Guardian Accounts
- You must be at least 18 years old to create an account

User-Generated Content
When you or your child creates content on our platform (such as custom avatars, drawings, or progress data):
- You retain ownership of your original creative content
- You grant us a license to use this content to provide our services
- We may use anonymized learning data to improve our platform
- You can request removal of user-generated content at any time

Important Payment Information
Failed Payments

Service Availability

Limitation of Liability
MathMates is provided "as is" for educational purposes. While we work hard to provide a safe and effective learning environment:

- Our liability is limited to the amount paid for the service
- We are not responsible for technical issues beyond our control
- Parents remain responsible for supervising their child's online activity
Changes to Terms

- Changes will be effective 30 days after notification
- Continued use of the service constitutes acceptance of new terms
